Under the patronage and in the presence of H. E. Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of State for Defense Affairs, the State of Qatar, represented by the Doha Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, hosted the 73rd session of the Council of the International Cospas-Sarsat Programme, which will run for four days.
The session witnessed the participation of representatives from 45 member states of the organization, along with several international entities involved in search and rescue operations. The discussions focused on key topics related to the development Of the space segment (LEO, GEO, MEO), modernization Of the ground infrastructure, and issues concerning program participants.
During the opening ceremony, Col. (Air) Rashid Sultan Al-Hitmi, Deputy Commander of the Doha Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Qatar’s representative to Cospas-Sarsat, delivered a welcoming speech to the patron of the event and the attendees. Brief remarks were also delivered by Dr. Shifali Jonga, Head of the Secretariat of the Organization, and Mr. Bruno Chazal, Chair of the 73rd Council Session.
The opening was attended by several senior officers of Qatar Armed Forces, security authorities, and senior officials from state institutions.
