Qatar Armed Forces and U.S. Air Forces Central Command, which is based in State of Qatar, celebrated the change of command of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, as Lieutenant General Alexus G Grynkewich succeeded Lieutenant General Gregory Guillot.
The change of command ceremony took place at Al-Udaid Air Base, and was attended by H. E. Lt. Gen. (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al-Nabit, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, many ambassadors to the State of Qatar, H. E. General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the U.S. Central Command, high-ranking military commanders from the Qatari and the American sides, and many commander officers from brotherly and friendly countries.
In his speech, H. E. Lt. Gen. (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al-Nabit, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, assured that the military relationships between State of Qatar and United State of America are ever stronger since their establishment, and indicated that the past stage witnessed historical accomplishments showing the depth of partnership and friendship between the two countries in all fields, especially the defense sector. H. E. also mentioned that the evacuation from Afghanistan through Al-Udaid Air Base, formed on the basis of shared value and principles, demonstrated Qatar’s commitment to its allies.
“Few months ago, State of Qatar and the United States celebrated the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, that began in 1972, and which today became stronger than ever”, H. E. said.
H. E. added: “We welcome U.S. Central Command and collation forces to the State of Qatar, and we are ready to enhance our partnership with our allies in State of Qatar in order to contribute to enhancing regional and global security and stability”.
“Due to the significant importance of this partnership to the State of Qatar, we have been working hard to develop Al-Udaid Air Base in order to increase the operational efficiency, and capacity of operations carried out by our allies”, H. E. said.
H. E. Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces concluded his speech by thanking Lieutenant General Gregory Guillot for his achievements during the past period, and welcoming Lieutenant General Alexus G Grynkewich and wishing him success in his new position.
