Qatar Armed Forces Organizes Sports Day Activities

Under the patronage of H. E. Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of State for Defense Affairs, the National Service Academy organized, in association with a number of ministries & institutions in the country, several sports activities at Camp Miqdam. This is in light with the country’s Sports Day activities, and with the presence of H. E. Lt. Gen. (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al-Nabit, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, H. E. Mr. Mason bin Mohammed Al-Amri, Minister of Justice, and a number of senior QAF officers.

H. E. Maj. Gen. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Nuaimi, President of the National Service Academy, stated that the Academy’s celebration this year saw the inauguration of Miqdam field, pointing out that the field is one of the distinguished training areas at the National Service Academy. After the inauguration, it shall be used to organize several collective sports activities and competitions. He added that the Academy has made another achievement this year, granting the third Guinness record certificate through scoring two new world records; the first is running for a distance of 1600 M carrying a 36.3 KG bag in 7 minute time only, breaking the previous world record time of 7 minutes and 16 seconds.

As for the second certificate the Academy got, it is related to endurance through standing on hands and scoring a new world record. The previous number was 56 pushes in a minute, and the Academy managed to break this record and score 66 pushes in a minute. On the other hand, Qatar Emiri Air Forces celebrated the Sports Day by organizing several sports activities at Al-udaid Airbase, in the presence of H. E. Maj. Gen. (Pilot) Jasim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, Qatar Emiri Air Forces Commander, and the participation of brotherly and friendly forces.
